Coca-Cola Expands Ready-to-Drink Iced Coffee Portfolio with New Dunkin’ Donuts® Line

Sweet news on manufacturing and distribution of new beverages

The Coca-Cola Company and Dunkin’ Donuts recently announced the introduction of ready-to-drink (RTD) bottled coffee beverages in outlets, including U.S. supermarkets, convenience stores, and participating Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants.¹ The Dunkin’ Donuts® branded beverages, recently launched, are manufactured, distributed and sold by Coca-Cola and will include real milk and sugar in a variety of flavors.

New Flavors for Coffee Category
The flavors for the ready-to-drink coffee category will include Original, Mocha, Espresso, and French Vanilla in re-sealable PET bottles. The new offering will round out The Coca-Cola Company’s coffee brands, including ready-to-drink illy® as well as Gold Peak® iced coffee, which will introduce new tea lattes and cold-brew coffee flavors in 2017.

“We’re excited to offer coffee consumers a variety of great-tasting, high-quality offerings to enjoy throughout the day,” says Geoff Henry, vice president, coffee and tea, Coca-Cola North America. “Each of these brands has its own unique taste and identity, so we expect minimal overlap or cannibalization.”

Coffee Brands that Appeal to Consumers
Coca-Cola is well positioned in the ready-to-drink coffee market thanks to its differentiated portfolio that includes unique brands to fulfill specific consumer needs: the Dunkin’ Donuts beverage brand is targeted toward a broader mainstream audience; Gold Peak Tea Latte is part of a new emerging sub-category targeted toward millennials who like to be known as the first to try new products; Gold Peak Cold Brewed Coffee features unique indulgent flavors; and illy® Cappuccino is a super-premium beverage that appeals to consumers looking for a coffee forward experience.

Growth of Ready-to-Drink Category
While the ready-to-drink coffee category continues to grow, The Coca-Cola Company will promote both new and existing coffee brands through marketing, in-store merchandising, and retail sampling. Henry says, “We’re confident we have the right strategy in place to capture the tremendous opportunity we see ahead.”
